Michael Douglas: Thank Goodness For Viagra

Michael DouglasMichael Douglas is busy filming “Wall Street 2″ and has given an interview to AARP magazine.

Douglas, 65, talked about his love of wife Catherine Zeta Jones and his second chance at being a dad.

He remembered how he was first smitten with Zeta Jones after seeing her in “The Mask Of Zorro”:

And does his pulse still quicken the way it did in that darkened screening room watching Zorro? “Oh, yeah,” he laughs. “At least in your head, your fire burns as brightly. Let’s not kid ourselves. But God bless her that she likes older guys. And some wonderful enhancements have happened in the last few years–Viagra, Cialis–that can make us all feel younger.”

Healthy men who took Viagra, Cialis see fine

CHICAGO (Reuters) – Healthy men who took Cialis or Viagra daily for six months did not develop any significant vision problems, U.S. researchers said on Monday in a company-funded study aimed at addressing concerns about the popular impotence treatments.

Pfizer Inc’s Viagra or sildenafil and Eli Lilly and Co’s Cialis or tadalafil treat impotence by increasing blood flow to the genitals, but some men taking the drugs have reported blurred vision, blue-tinged vision or altered light perception.

FDA approves once-a-day Cialis

Indianapolis, Indiana—Drug maker Eli Lilly and Co. has received FDA approval to offer its erectile dysfunction drug, Cialis, in a new daily dose.

The daily version will take pressure off users who would otherwise have a “shot clock” or window of effectiveness to worry about, Lilly officials say. Cialis also is offered at a higher dose that provides a 36-hour window.

With the daily dose, men will not need to take Cialis in anticipation of sex because it is already in their system, said Shawn Heffern, Lilly’s U.S. marketing director for the drug.

Fake Cialis linked to dangerously low blood sugar

An unusual outbreak of dangerously low blood sugar has been traced to illegal anti-impotence drugs and herbal remedies contaminated with a drug for diabetics, doctors warn.

Between Jan. 1 and May 26, 2008, 150 non-diabetic patients with severe hypoglycemia were admitted to public hospital in Singapore. There were four deaths, and seven patients remained comatose, Dr. Kok Onn Lee of National University Hospital in Singapore report in Thursday’s New England Journal of Medicine.

All of the patients except one were men, and they ranged in age from 19 to 97, with an average age of 51.

Swiss Allege Price Fixing on Viagra and Cialis

Swiss authorities have accused Pfizer and Eli Lilly of conspiring to fix prices for Viagra and Cialis. The news has created the best Bloomberg headline ever: “Pfizer, Lilly, Bayer Operated Erection-Drug Cartel, Swiss Say.”

A couple of days ago BNET noted that Pfizer and Lilly appear to have frozen Bayer’s Levitra out of the market. The two ED brands have come to dominate global sales of penis pills. This was my explanation:
