European regulators deny Pfizer’s request to make Viagra OTC
European regulators denied Pfizer’s request to make its erectile dysfunction drug Viagra available over-the-counter.
The drug giant said Thursday it withdrew its application to the European Medicines Agency.
Since its introduction more than a decade ago, Viagra has been used by more than 35 million men worldwide.
New York-based drug firm Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) has about 1,200 employees in research and development operations in the St. Louis area. Its Chesterfield facility is 900,000 square feet and includes 250 laboratories.
