New erectile dysfunction drug pulled

Health Canada has ordered an unauthorized erectile-dysfunction treatment off the market over concerns it may pose serious health risks, especially for those with heart problems or stroke risk.

Libidus, which is promoted on a manufacturer’s website, contains the undeclared prescription drug sildenafil, which should only be used for specific health problems under the supervision of a doctor.

It can have serious cardiovascular effects for patients with heart disease including heart attack, stroke, low blood pressure and even sudden cardiac death.

Sildenafil may be associated with other side effects including vision loss, seizure, sudden decrease or loss of hearing, dizziness, prolonged erection, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion and abdominal pain.

Retailers are being told to pull Libidus from their shelves, and consumers should return it to the place of purchase.

Libidus is made by Yurtland Natural Health and distributed by NorthRegentRX of Winnipeg. It may be available at retail outlets across Canada and over the Internet.
