Swiss Allege Price Fixing on Viagra and Cialis
Swiss authorities have accused Pfizer and Eli Lilly of conspiring to fix prices for Viagra and Cialis. The news has created the best Bloomberg headline ever: “Pfizer, Lilly, Bayer Operated Erection-Drug Cartel, Swiss Say.”
A couple of days ago BNET noted that Pfizer and Lilly appear to have frozen Bayer’s Levitra out of the market. The two ED brands have come to dominate global sales of penis pills. This was my explanation:
Appeal fails for Viagra scam ringleader
An Elstree man jailed for his part in a multi-million pound impotence drug scam has failed in an appeal against his sentence.
Ashish Halai, 34, of Nicholas Road, was at the heart of a five-year plot to sell millions of fake Viagra and Cialis pills, used to treat impotence, and Propecia, used to treat hair loss.
In 2007, he was jailed for four-and-a-half years, but he appealed and the case was heard at London’s Criminal Appeal Court yesterday.
Lawyers argued that the sentence was “manifestly excessive” but Lord Justice Toulson told the court large profits were made from the operation, which he described as a “sophisticated commercial enterprise”.
Viagra may protect heart
Tests in mouse hearts show that sildenafil, the key ingredient in Viagra, may shield hearts from damage caused by high blood pressure, a new study suggests.
Investigators said that sildenafil appears to influence RGS2, a single protein essential in the reactions that initially protect the heart’s blood-pumping function from spiraling into heart failure. The findings, published online Monday in The Journal of Clinical Investigation, suggest that sildenafil may prove useful in the treatment or prevention of heart damage due to chronic high blood pressure.
Levitra – a step ahead of Viagra
In reality, most people need 50mg or 100mg dosage of Viagra tablets for better results. 25mg Viagra does not seem to work for most. Whereas, Levitra comes in considerably dosage forms of 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg, with 10mg dose working effectively for most people.
Levitra is also a step ahead of Viagra as lesser dosage means lesser probability of side effects. In this sense, you might experience fewer side effects with Levitra and you can wipe out the chances of experiencing the nasty side effects of Viagra.
The Future Looks Bright For Cialis
The pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly has issued a statement regarding its erectile dysfunction medication Cialis and are extremely bullish about its future prospects and the possibility of gaining a greater market share of the world wide impotence drugs market. In the first three financial quarters of 2008 Cialis has already generated over $1 billion in sales for Eli Lilly and it looks like this year will be a record year. The Cialis drug is now available in over 100 different countries worldwide and has managed to gain the largest market share in twenty of them.
