Sanofi-Aventis To Help Market Lilly’s Cialis Impotence Drug
Sanofi-Aventis (SNY) formed a collaboration with Eli Lilly & Co. (LLY) to help market Lilly’s erectile-dysfunction drug Cialis in the U.S.
A once-daily formulation of Cialis was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in January. Sales representatives for France-based Sanofi will promote once-daily Cialis to U.S. urologists. The drug is also available in an as-needed formulation, competing with Pfizer Inc.’s (PFE) Viagra.
The collaboration started March 13, a spokeswoman for Indianapolis-based Lilly said Tuesday. The companies agreed to a two-year collaboration, with an option to renew after that. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
A Sanofi-Aventis spokesman couldn’t immediately be reached.
Bloomberg News reported the partnership earlier Tuesday.
