To make things worse, about half of the male population aged over forty have serious problems with getting hard erection.
Erectile dysfunctions (ED for short) are basically the problems with maintaining or reaching the full erection. Sometimes they may go away with time, but oftentimes they are here to stay. Until recently all we could do was to try to wait and hope for the best. Now however, we finally have means to fight it. As the danger caused by ED to relationships, family life and one’s self-esteem can’t be overstated, there is only one thing we should do: fight!
Before we can treat ED appropriately, we must find out the cause of the dysfunction. Erection problems may be caused either by our body or our psyche. Unfortunately, the only way to tell the real reasons is to exclude all potential physical diseases.
Most of the times, ED have underlying physiological reasons. The most common reasons of dysfunctions are: vascular disease, some prescription-only drugs and extreme tiredness, but the list is much, much longer. Basically, ED may be caused by any health condition that prevents enough blood from flowing through the penis. However, about a third of ED are caused by our psyche. Depression, low self-esteem and long-time stress may all cause ED thanks to their influence on one’s brain.
